In this digital day and age sometimes the most simple of tasks can feel a little like mission impossible. Information overload is a real thing and when you’re trying something new for the first time, the internet can be a bit overwhelming. I know this feeling all too well and I remember this exact feeling of lost and confusion when making my first hair extension purchase. I know I’m not alone so here it is: The Beginner’s Guide to Buying Hair Extensions! A quick run down on everything you need to know before you buy your first hair extensions!
Decide What Type of Hair You Want
When it comes to hair extensions there is generally two types you can buy. Human Hair or Synthetic. All of our hair is 100% Human which can literally be treated in the same way you treat your own hair. You can wash, color, straighten, or curl human hair. Synthetic hair is made up of synthetic fibers and while it can achieve some of the same styles, the results will not be the same and won’t last as long. If you’re looking for extensions that will last and can be styled numerous ways, human hair is the way to go.
Differentiating Between the Kinds of Hair
Once you’ve decided what type of hair you’d like (hopefully human!) your next encounter will be deciding between the different kinds. The most popular being Malaysian, Indian, Brazilian, and Peruvian. It can be tough to decide which kind of hair you want without really understanding about each. Indian hair after being wet will usually dry into a deep wave texture. It’s easy to both straighten and curl. Malaysian hair tends to be silkier and shinier than Indian hair and has amazing volume and body. It is a naturally straight in texture. Brazilian hair is also silkier than Indian hair and comes in straight or wavy textures. It’s one of the most popular kinds of hair because it hold curls and lasts very long. Peruvian hair is the thickest texture of all. Although it is thick it’s very lightweight and is great for almost any style. The coarse texture of Peruvian hair makes it a popular choice for African American hair textures.
Decide What Length You Want
Now that you’ve decided what type and kind of hair you want, the next step is deciding how long you want your extensions to be. Bundles of hair come in a range of lengths with the higher number in inches being the longest. Most ladies choose to get a few different lengths between bundles to provide a natural layering effect.
Now that you have the info, buying your first hair extensions should be a breeze!
